Simple acts like blowing out a candle can make a world of difference for a child. Birthdays are important milestones and we want to make sure that these children get to celebrate their special day. Depending on the party we could be celebrating anywhere from 1 to 20 birthdays at a single party, but each child always has the chance to make a wish and blow out a candle as an individual.
Project Birthday parties are fun. From the time children arrive to the time they leave, we want to make them smile. A typical party runs like this:
- Greet each child as they walk in the door, recognizing the birthday children as they arrive.
- Play games and make crafts. These are often simple activities like Simon Says, making a bookmark, musical chairs, etc.
- Sing Happy Birthday.
- Enjoy cake and ice cream.
- Open birthday gifts.
- Hand out loot bags to each child in attendance.
These parties take place twice a month at minimum. With 100+ birthdays being celebrated each year, we're always looking for folks to help us along the way. Check out the "How we do it" page to see what's involved or the "How to help" page to see what you can do to support Project Birthday.
